Kieren Gaul

Owner / Lead Guide

"Kieren packed in his Sydney gig in treasury finance to set up the Big Red Cats Skiing operation in Red Mountain Canada and never looked back. A former member of the Australian Ski Team, Kieren grew up in Canberra before moving to Sydney to pursue a career in finance but his love of snow took over and he and his Canadian wife, Paula, now spend the northern winters guiding clients in the backcountry of British Columbia through 18 500 acres of terrain. The envy of their friends, the Gauls have over 250 runs in deep powder for intermediates to experts in their own backyard."

Kauri Howell

Guide - Outside ops.

Kauri is a key member of the team and a lead guide.   This will be Kauri's 12th season with Big Red Cats (he's been with us since the beginning - in fact he helped to build the Big Red Lodge before BRC opened).   Kauri has the CSGA3 and CAA2 qualification, and leads groups.  He is also a tree faller, and has worked most of the summers building new roads and new runs as a result kauri knows the Big Red Cats area as well as anyone and better than most.    Kauri is focused on safety and fun with guests.    Like all guides at Big Red Cats he is focused on creating great teams of guests and guides each day.   Kauri is also a ski instructor and ski patroller at nearby red Mountain, and the father of two skiing sons.
