Tail Guides:

Big Red Cats also hires tail guides, and trains new tail guides.

Minimum qualifications to join as a tail guide:

CAA Level 1 Ski Operations

CSGA Level 1

CSIA Level 2

80-hour First Aid

Class 4 driver's license

Tail guide wage starts at minimum wage and increases as qualifications increase ($120-150/day range)

*TAIL GUIDE POSITIONS FILLED FOR 2016/17 SEASON BUT YOU MAY CONTACT US TO DISCUSS FUTURE SEASONS

Volunteer Extra/Trainee Tail Guides*:

CAA Level 1 Ski Operations

40 or 80-hour First Aid

*Trainee guides will shadow a tail guide or guide on a volunteer basis in a supernumary position, trained and evaluated, and will be employed as tail guides when their skills and experience is sufficient to justify not having the CSGA1 and CSIA2 qualifications.  This may take fewer than 10 days.  For some, it takes longer.  Excellent skiing or boarding skills required; ski patrol or volley ski patrol experience an asset.

This is a supernumary position, and does not replace a paid tail guide.  Other duties to help the team, such as loading gear and lunches, taking photos of guests, helping the snow safety team with avalanche evaluations, are also required.  Preference is given to local residents who plan on entering the ski guide profession, but other locals who have no such plans, but would like to be "snow hosts with a camera" may be considered.
