Cancellation & Date Changes

If a guest wishes to cancel or change a booking, please contact the BRC office via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or phone at +1-250-362-2271. The cancellation is only effective once BRC confirms the cancellation in writing to the guest.

Date Changes: A guest may opt to change their booking to a different available date in the same season. If there are no available booking dates, the guest must either find a replacement, cancel or may be given the option to rebook for the following season depending on when the request is made. Changing dates is subject to a re-booking fee and variable pricing , based on when the change is made.

  1. Any date change made greater than 90 days prior to the ski date will be granted out of courtesy pending availability.
  2. Any date change made 90 days or less to the ski date will be subject to a $49 rebooking and administration fee.
  3. Any date change made less than four weeks prior to the ski date will be subject to a $100 rebooking fee. Moving the booking to the following year will not be granted at this point. If availability can not be found, the guest must find a replacement or cancel. A credit will not be offered.

All date changes to private cat bookings must be made greater than 90 days prior.

Cancellations are 100% non-refundable. No refunds will be provided for trip cancellation circumstances such as, but not limited to: weather and/or snow conditions, family or workplace obligations/emergencies, changes in permits, policies, regulations or laws of any government, injuries or any personal or public health-related issues, difficulty with border crossings, travel delays, injuries, acts of God, or states of emergency. BRC reserves the right to offer a partial or full refund or a credit, at its own special discretion for scenarios not within this cancellation policy.

Guests who cancel have the option of finding a replacement to fill their seat as it is fully transferable. We will accommodate this at no charge if the guests transfer funds among themselves. If we have to charge the new guest and refund the old guest, there will be a $80 administration fee deducted from each seat refunded.

WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE ALL GUESTS TO PURCHASE TRIP INSURANCE.

BRC does not give refunds or credits for injury, illness, or the inability to handle skiing/riding in our terrain.

Weather

In the event that the weather renders the skiing conditions hazardous, or something else beyond our control means that we cannot safely offer cat skiing, you may be given a rain check to reschedule to another date in the same or following season (valid for 2 years).  Rain checks are transferable.  BRC reserves the right to cancel and offer rain checks at their sole discretion.

If the optional weather insurance was purchased and the day is cancelled due to weather, then a refund less the insurance will be granted.

Please understand that we cannot control the weather and we will always try to operate, but the option to ski at the resort instead and change your date is the best "ski guarantee" we can offer.

If you have a full cat booking, and you would like us to consider moving your whole group to another date, and running a 6th cat to maximize a powder day or avoid a weather disaster, ask us.  It may or may not be possible, depending on our staffing, but it is worth asking if you're in the area anyway.  We normally don't schedule 6 cats in advance so such changes can be possible when we have a cat and staff available.

When conditions are deteriorating, we may be going day by day, or even hour by hour, but as long as it is safe to ski, we will make every effort to do so.  Rain checks are often not offered until the morning of the trip, if the weather is questionable.  If you need clarity several days before the trip, in order to change flights, we will sometimes grant rescheduling in the SAME season, or the following low season, several days in advance, so that you don't have to travel here.  Note that in most cases, outside lodging will NOT be rain checked into a separate season, as it is usually still possible to come and ski at the resort on groomed runs if cat skiing is not ideal, and the lifts will still be running.  So be aware that if you choose not to come because of conditions, the lodging payment may be forfeited if you don't come in the same season.  Ask your lodging provider at the time of booking for written clarification.

In the event that conditions deteriorate DURING the day, here is the policy:  If you ski 1-3 runs, and the entire group is offered and chooses unanimously to depart, there is a 50% credit for a future day of cat skiing.  4-5 runs and there is a 20% credit.  If the group skis 6 runs or more, there is no future credit.  If the group isn't unanimous, it will keep skiing.  These are future discounts and are not refunds.

IF WE OFFER YOU THE OPTION TO RESCHEDULE YOUR TRIP DUE TO JUST OVERALL UNDESIRABLE CONDITIONS, IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO DO SO, THERE IS NO REFUND.  WE WILL STILL OPERATE AND TAKE YOU SKIING.  AN OFFER TO RESCHEDULE DUE TO CONDITIONS IS AN OPTIONAL COURTESY AND WILL BE SUBJECT TO A $49 REBOOKING FEE, BUT IS NOT MANDATORY.  YOU CAN CHOOSE TO EITHER RESCHEDULE FOR ANOTHER TIME IN THE NEXT TWO SEASONS, OR WE CAN TAKE YOU OUT IN THE SUB-PAR CONDITIONS.

Travel & Medical Insurance

Trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance:  We acknowledge that unforseen circumstances may arise, leading to the need for trip cancellation or interruption.  To mitigate any possible complications that may arise from such situations, we highly advise all guests to purchase trip cancellation and interruption insurance.  Typically, you can obtain this coverage through your own insurance agent, or we recommend considering Sanderson Travel Insurance.

Medical Insurance:  We highly recommend obtaining insurance coverage that includes hospital, helicopter and ambulance evacuation expenses.  In the event of an injury, these costs will be the responsibility of the injured individual.  If you are not a Canadian resident, please ensure that your medical insurance provides coverage while you are in Canada.  Sanderson Travel Insurance also offers medical insurance options that you can consider for your trip.

*It is important to note that certain situations such as backcountry or regional restrictions, closures, evacuations due to avalanche risk, or state of emergency may not be covered by insurance.  Additionally, insurance providers typically do not cover inclement weather or poor conditions that may affect the quality or enjoyment of your trip.  It is advisable to review and understand the coverage limitations before making any travel arrangements.

Average Vertical & Vertical Guarantee

On most days, intermediate groups will get 6-8 runs, advanced will ski 8-12 runs, and experts 9-15 runs.  There is no daily maximum, so you'll get more runs in in March than in January because the days are longer.

There is a vertical guarantee of at least 6 runs: A $50 future credit will be placed on your account for each run less than 6 if we need to cancel due to mechanical failure to help to lower the cost of a future trip.  If the day is slowed because someone is lost or injured, the vertical guarantee does not apply, as our safety focus cannot be compromised.

If you are asked to sit out runs because you overestimated your own ability and booked yourself into the wrong ability group, this will not apply.

Ability Level

We will make every attempt to stick with the chosen ability level, but please understand that this is a guideline, there is often overlap between advanced and expert groups, and ability is self-assessed and not foolproof.  If there are 12 or fewer seats booking in two cats, it may be combined into one group, but we will never combine intermediate with expert.

BRC does not give refunds or credits for the inability to handle skiing/riding in our terrain or the natural backcountry conditions. Please be sure to self-assess accurately.

Alcohol & Drugs

Alcohol or non-prescription drugs are strictly not permitted while skiing or snowboarding.  Safety is our first priority.

If you are prone to motion sickness, we strongly discourage you from drinking very much the night before cat skiing, as the cat ride can be quite uncomfortable for the hung-over.  You may wish to take anti-nausea medication prior to leaving the resort, so that it has time to take effect.

You are quite welcome to bring some cans of beer or a plastic bottle to enjoy after the last run of the day while the cat is heading back to the staging area.  A cool beverage after a hard-charging day in the pow can be a beautiful thing - but do remember that there are 12 people in the cat, and cat skiing is a "team sport..."

Minors

BRC requires that guests are a minimum of 12 years or older to ski and board with us at time of trip unless special approval is granted for exceptional circumstances.

Guests between the ages of 12 and 18 years old must ski with a parent or guardian at all times.

A separate waiver for the minor, must be signed by the Parent or Guardian that will be skiing with them.

Minors must have a current working email address to access the pre-trip information The parent or guardian can assist them with this process.

All minors must be strong, competent skiers or boarders with prior experience in powder and back-country conditions preferred. Capabilities to ski off-piste and in trees is essential. Prior experience with beacons and avalanche equipment is preferred.

We may, at any time, and at our sole discretion, modify these Terms and Conditions, including our Cancellation Policy, Booking Policy, and Refund Policy, with or without notice to you. Any such modification will be effective immediately upon public posting. It is your responsibility to review the Terms and Conditions for updates or changes. Your use of our services following any such modification constitutes your acceptance of these modified Terms.
